March 18, 2010: Fuquay-Varina
Monthly Documentary Night: Join local Democracy NC Advocates and others for monthly showings of documentaries on a wide variety of peace, social justice, health and environmental issues every first Thursday of the month in Raleigh and every third Thursday in Fuquay-Varina. Admission is Free. Next showing is at 7 PM, Thursday March 18th with "Beyond the Mirage: The Face of the Occupation." This documentary by filmmaker David Neunuebel goes behind back the media façade of the Palestinian/Israeli conflict and provides an opportunity to hear from people who actually live in the region. The showing will take place at the Fuquay-Varina Community Center, 820 S. Main St., Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526. For more information, e-mail Jeff or Anne at docu@healthprotector.com.
March 18, 2010: Nags Head
The Town of Nags Head and the Outer Banks Sentinel are co-sponsoring a forum to celebrate Open Government on March 19th. The Sunshine Week Open Government Forum will begin at 7 PM on Thursday, March 18, at the Dare County Board of Commissioners meeting room at the county administration building. It is free and open to the public. The format for this year's celebratory event will include a panel discussion of the topic by experts who will share their experiences from their own unique perspectives. April 11, 2010: Carrboro
Free Pubic Forum on the Citizens United Ruling: "The Supreme Court Decision: A Disaster for Democracy." April 11 from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM at the Carrboro Century Center, 100 N. Greensboro Street, Carrboro. Speakers include Gene Nichol: Professor of Law and Director of the Center on Poverty, Work and Opportunity at UNC-CH, and Chase Foster: Director, North Carolina Voters for Clean Elections.
June 22, 2010: Raleigh
Annual Lobby Day: Save the date for June 22nd, when Denocracy NC Advocates from all across the state will be converging on the General Asembly in Raleigh to promote Voter-owned Elections, ethics reform and other issues essential to democracy.
