Support Democracy Summer
An investment in Democracy Summer is an investment in our state’s future.

Democracy Summer is a unique opportunity for individuals, organizations and businesses to invest in North Carolina’s future through a tax-deductible contribution to the program.
As one program alumnae said: “Many wonderful organizations have a positive impact on society, but too few expose young people to practical grassroots organizing and the life-changing experiences that convince them to dedicate themselves to social change."
Democracy Summer does just that and has given over 100 young people the opportunity to dedicate themselves to social change since its inception in 1999.
Every year, this unique program offers promising undergraduates the chance to be part of the pro-democracy movement. It teaches young leaders grassroots organizing skills and puts them on the frontline of democracy across NC — energizing communities, building coalitions, empowering citizens and advancing the future of democracy for us all. How You Can Help
Each year, Democracy Summer hires ten student organizers and pays each student a $2,300 stipend for the summer. These interns work in five 2-person teams, with teams located in Charlotte, Fayetteville, Greenville, Durham and Winston-Salem.
We invite you to sponsor a student for the entire session or for any portion thereof. In return, you receive a charitable tax deduction on your state and federal taxes and we would like to acknowledge your generosity in our press releases and other materials. And, of course, you also gain the satisfaction of knowing you have made a true difference in the future of democracy in North Carolina.
Contact Molly Beacham (919-286-6000, Ext. 12) for more information on sponsoring an intern or you can give on-line: Support Democracy North Carolina.
Thank you!!
Changing People, Changing Lives

“It was like seeing all of the pieces of the puzzle put together for the first time; it's quite a daunting reality. However, once you open your eyes to this reality, you can never look back — and I don't intend to.”
